Sunday… Bloody Sunday…

Posted by jeresk on December 4, 2011 in It's Everybody's Fault I'm Now A Paperboy |

The life of a paperboy takes it’s toll on Sunday’s… I remember getting the Sunday paper and I was well aware that they were larger than a normal paper. I also knew a lot of people ONLY get the Sunday paper so there is a lot of people you do not deliver to during the week, but I was not prepared…

You can go in on Saturday and fold all the ads for Sunday papers – but I decided no… I’ll go in at like Midnight and prep until the truck gets in (usually around 2:00 am). Then I’d just stuff the papers in the pre-folded ads and get out about 4 am. I figured 3 hours would be plenty of time to throw…

So I went in at midnight, prepped the ads until 2:30 and the truck pulled up.

Everything you see here and more is just the ads...

Then I started stuffing – at 5:30 I wasn’t even half done. Kori and her husband were so kind and started helping me, but then they had to go and do their own route… Amiee, the manager got a kid to come help so I could start loading – I was finally loaded up about 6:00, but guess what?

To the ROOF!

Yup, my SUV was completely full, and I have everything organized into the Ikea bags as you can see… And if you know the size of the Ikea bags, you know in a pinch, you could move into one for a few nights. They are huge. Well after my car was completely full, I still had 9 bags I couldn’t fit into the car. Yeah – I was only able to get about half in there. HOW THE HELL IS ANYONE SUPPOSED TO GET THIS DONE!!???? I mean, really… If you have to have a team of 3 people folding and 2 SUV’s to get them delivered…

This is the 9 bags I couldn't fit in my car...

Kori said she could come pick up the papers and bring them to me – I figured, “Ok… I should be able to do this in 2 hours and then it will be over…” HAHAHAHAHAAA!!!! Yeah, that didn’t happen. At 10:30 am I was getting close to the end of my route. About 9:00 Kori brought me the other half of my papers… I was told the papers were just massive since it was the second Sunday after Thanksgiving and they weren’t normally that big, but seriously… I came close to just opening the back of my car, pushing all the papers out and saying “Enjoy!” then going home and going back to bed…

I honestly just don’t know if this is going to work…
